The Task

From a photograph, transforming it into a 3D model. Incorporate a base to form an award/trophy.

The Two Parts

Part A - The top section, and Part B - the plinth or base.

Part A was made using a Image to 3D model AI tool. Part B was a bespoke model made by using a CAD programme.

Initially the two parts were placed together to form one object, but because of confliction within the CAD programme, I was only able to print the parts separately, which resulted in them being glued together. Not something I like doing although Gorilla Glue is fabulous.

The secondary award was made again in two parts, but formed a complete model, as both parts were incorporated into CAD from another source.

The Cost

Custom-made (aka-besoke) models vary tremendously in the base cost (time, design hours, material and electricity. As a hobbyist, I have to look carefully at the overall costs involved, before taking on complicated and time-consuming projects. Not all bespoke work is cost effective to make.

The full colour version of this model would have been over 102 hours to print alone. There were 16 different colours involved, I would have struggled to find all the matching colours, where possibly a few would only be used the once.

Disclaimer

Please be aware that bespoke items require additional work to bring them up to an immaculate finish. Most printed items require a good sanding down to eliminate small imperfections, especially if any painting is required. This is very time consuming and will incur an additional charges on top of the base rate.
